About Us

Formed in 1978 Todmorden Town Twinning Association (TTTA) aims to promote and foster friendship and understanding between the the people of Todmorden and its surrounding area and the people of Bramsche in  Germany and those of Roncq in France.

Town twinning helps people from different countries to exchange regular visits. Members stay in each others' homes, experience each others' way of life and lasting friendships form between families and guests.

The TTTA helps by arranging the group travel.  They introduce Todmorden people to their hosts in our two twin towns.  They also arrange places to stay, events and other things to do for groups visiting Todmorden.

Why join Todmorden Twin Town Association

Meet new friends

Organisers in Todmorden and in the Twin Towns work hard to introduce hosts and visitors with things in common so visiting our twin towns or hosting visitors from them often results in strong and lasting friendships between individuals and families.

Getting involved in group travel and supporting TTTA's other activities and events throughout the year is a great way to get to know people from Todmorden from a wide range of interests and ages.

It's great fun

When visiting our twin towns we have enjoyed many activities including sports matches, concerts, trips on boats and trains, behind the scenes visits to factories, cake shops, coffee roasting houses, vineyards, supermarkets, tours of museums, cathedrals, historic sites, botanical gardens,  and watched guide dog training and chocolate making. Host families have organised outings and picnics, swimming in canals or municipal pools, horse riding, car rallies, and many other interests.

Cultural Exchange

Bramsche and Roncq, like Todmorden, both have an industrial heritage in textiles and weaving, a common link.

Staying in family homes allows us to explore similarities and differences between our cultures, try each other's food, find out about education and work opportunities.
We can try to use each others languages, or not, supported by Google helping with translation so language really isn't a barrier.
